Ali faces world number two after beating Stosur

In the first round at Rome, Alison was yet again able to come back from behind to win. Alison beat Samantha Stosur 6-7 (6/8) 6-3 6-2 and will face world number two Caroline Wozniacki in the next round.

The match stayed on serve throughout a close first set. In the breaker Stosur led 3-6. Alison saved three set points. Stosur then forced another opportunity to seal the first set and succeeded this time.

Yet Ali stayed upbeat and clearly became the better player after that. At 1 game all in the second set, Alison won three straight games. The serve was still going strong and Alison was able to serve out the set.

Alison went on to win the first four games in the third set, basically deciding the match. Without even losing one servicegame, Alison wrapped things up after 2h19mins.
