Alison pulled out all the stops yet just couldn’t qualify for the second round at Bejing. Alison missed out on a win as she lost two close sets. She was beaten by Czech player Siniakova 5-7 4-6.
Alison was the first player who managed to take a significant lead. At 2-2, she won the next couple of games to lead by 4 games to 2. At her opponent’s serve, she was only two points away of winning the first set. Katerina Siniakova managed to hold serve and in the next game, Alison lost her own servicegame. Next time they had to serve, both players face a couple of break points. While Siniakova saved the break points, Alison couldn’t do that and this way she lost the first set.
Trailing by 1 game to 3 in the second, it looked like things were decided. But Alison wouldn’t give up just yet and thanks to her typical fighting spirit, she turned things around to take a 4 games to 3 lead. In the next three games, momentum shifted again. At 4-5, Ali couldn’t finish a tight game and Siniakova converted her first match point.
