Ali stops in singles but continues in doubles

Alison (WTA-60) lost her second round match at Roland-Garros (France, Grand Slam). However, she does not leave the Parisian clay court as she still plays in doubles.

In the second round, Ali played another American, Coco Gauff (WTA-23), seeded number 18 in the tournament. After having quickly lost the first set 1-6, Ali showed more resistance in the second set, forcing his opponent into a tie-break. Gauff finally wins in two sets 1-6, 6-7(7).

In doubles, Alison (WTA D-81) is partnered with Romanian Monica Niculescu (WTA D-39). In the first round, they met the American Danielle Collins (WTA D-330) associated with the Kazakhe Yulia Putintseva (WTA D-430) and won in 3 sets: 3-6, 6-3, 6-1. In the second round, Alison will meet again with Coco Gauff (WTA D-10) associated with her compatriot Jessica Pegula (WTA D-31). The Americans are seeded number 8 in the doubles tournament.
