Ali’s great run ends in semi-finals

She couldn’t qualify for the final but Alison played a great tournament at Linz. Even in the semis she kept fighting till the very end. Unfortunately Alison was beaten by Camila Giorgi 3-6 4-6.

Alison lost her first servicegame and this way she trailed from the get-go. Giorgi did struggle to prevent a comeback from Van Uytvanck. At a score of 1 game to 3, the Italian player fought through a difficult servicegame. When she served for the set, Alison had two break points. And yet Giorgi was the one who won that game and the first set.

By winning more points on the second serve, Alison gave more resistance in the second set. The set was tied at 4 when Alison sadly lost a very close servicegame. By hitting some terrific groundstrokes and trying to search the points at the net, Alison did a phenomenal job to save six match points. When her forehand ended up behind the baseline on match point number seven, it was game, set and match.
