Alison has continued her good momentum at the singles tournament in Karlsruhe and has reached the final! Ali put in a dominant performance in the quarters. In the semis, she had to fight for it, but she managed to do that very well.
Tereza Mrdeza (WTA-204) was her opponent in the quarter-finals. Alison (WTA-65) won the first five games. In the beginning of the second set, she immediately made the difference as well. Afterwards, Mrdeza managed to hang on a bit, but Alison had no trouble serving out the match. Alison won 6-1 6-3.
Badosa Gilbert (WTA-101) had enjoyed a couple of good results in recent weeks and was a dangerous opponent in the semis. It was very even the entire first set. Alison was able to strike at the important moments in the breaker. Her Spanish opponent then led by 3 games to 1 in the second set but Alison immediately erased the deficit. Another tie-break had to be played. Badosa Gilbert missed an opportunity to close out the set and Alison converted her first match point: 7-6 (7/3) 7-6 (8/6). Alison will play for her second tournament victory of the year at Karlsruhe, after already winning the title at Budapest.
