Alison beats Flipkens on her way to the semifinal in Katowice

Alison (WTA-105) reached the semifinals of the WT- tournament in Katowice. In the quarterfinals she was too strong for her compatriot Kirsten Flipkens (WTA-70).

Alison had a day off on Thursday, while Flipkens clearly had a tough three-setter in the legs. Ali soon took a 4-1 lead, and won the first set 6-2. Also in the second set Alison was the better player, she took the set 6-4 and reached the last four in Poland.

In the semifinals she will face eighth seed Anna Karolína Schmiedlova (WTA-67), who surprisingly knocked out second seed Alizé Cornet (WTA-24) in two sets. Earlier this year, the Slovakian beat Alison in straight sets at the WTA-tournament in Rio de Janeiro.
