For two long hours, Alison had to fight to book her place in the semi-finals at the Hungarian Ladies Open but she managed to do so. Alison beat Kateryna Kozlova after a combative effort 3-6 6-1 6-4.
Alison had a bright start in every set. Every time, she was immediately up by 2 games to 0. What happened from that point on, was different at times. In the first set her Ukrainian opponent came back right away and at 3-3 was able to string together three straight games. Which meant Alison surrendered the first set.
In the second set, Alison wasn’t gonna let up once she got her nose in front. She stayed firmly in control and extended her lead until she was up by 5 games to 0. Kozlova could only one win one game before Alison, who was looking very strong at the moment, wrapped up the second set.
The start of set three was more like set one: an early lead for Alison and Kozlova who came right back. But Alison was determined to get the win and immediately forced another break. Kozlova also come back from 4-2 down to tie the set at 4. But even this couldn’t derail Alison. She broke her opponent’s serve one more time and struck gold: her place in the semis was finally in the bag. Alison will now play Russian player Ekaterina Alexandrova at 5 pm for a spot in the final.
