On Monday Alison (WTA-62) reached the third round of the Olympic tournament in Tokyo, Japan. She won in 3 sets against Czech Petra Kvitova (WTA-13).
From the first set, Alison showed she was determined to defend her chances. A very contested first set went to the Czech with 5-7, but more was needed to destabilize Alison.
Ali came back in the match by winning the second set 6-3, thus resetting the counters to zero. In the third set, she left no opportunity to her opponent to return to the match and pocketed the set 6-0. The match lasted just over 2 hours.
In the next round, Alison will meet Spain’s Garbine Muguruza (WTA-9) with the aim to reach the quarterfinals.
