Alison falls short against Serena

Alison (WTA-106) had no luck with the draw of the first Grand Slam tournament of the year. She had to take on immediately the number one in the world, Serena Williams. The American has already won the title in Melbourne five times and the Belgian did not get a chance to get used to the conditions. Ali failed to get into her rhythm and after 20 minutes Williams took the first set 0-6.

After the first set Alison planned a bathroom break, which was effective. She fought hard and could hold her own service game four times. However, it was Williams who stepped up her game at the key moments. While leading 4-5 she had two match points on the service of the Belgian. The first one was decisive: 4-6.
