Alison (WTA-61) has played her second round match in women’s singles at Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The 3rd seed faced Monica Niculescu, the Romanian player, against whom she already played three times. Alison won their meeting in 2014 on the grass of Wimbledon, Niculescu had won their two last meetings.
This Wednesday, Alison took full control. She started brightly and won the first set by 6 games to 2. She also won the first game of the second set to break her opponent’s serve: 2 games to 0. At 3-0, Niculescu managed to win a game, but Alison didn’t allow her to get back in the match. Ali won 6-2 6-1 in 1h 11 mins.
Alison cruised to the nexth round. There awaits Hungarian player Timea Babos (WTA-89), the 7th seed, or French player Pauline Parmentier (WTA-127).
