In the third encounter of the week the Belgian Fed Cup team played against Bulgaria. The winner of this encounter would take the victory in Group D. Just as in their previous two encounters Belgium won 3-0.
In the first rubber of the day Ysaline Bonavonture (WTA-160) did not have an easy match against Elitsa Kostova (WTA-245). She eventually won after three sets: 6-3, 3-6 and 6-3. In the second match Alison (WTA-43) had to battle against Tsvetana Pironkova (WTA-93). Pironkova was ranked 31st after reaching the semifinals at Wimbledon in 2010. Ali gave her opponent no chance in the match and steamed to a 6-4 and 6-2 victory. In the doubles Benoit played for the Belgian Fed Cup team for the first time in her career. Together with Mestach she got the victory after more than two hours of tennis and three sets: 4-7(4), 6-2 and 6-4.
Tomorrow Belgium plays the final against Great Britain. Their highest-ranked player is Heather Watson (WTA-85). She won all her matches just like the 16-year-old Katie Swan (WTA -24). In the doubles Great Britain can count on the Rae/Smith pair (WTA D-68). The winner of this encounter can go to the play-offs World Group II.
