After her first round singles win, Alison continued in impressive fashion at Karlsruhe. Her second singles match turned into a very convincing win and it was the same for her first doubles match.
Laura-Ioana Paar (WTA-253) from Romania was Ali’s opponent in the round of sixteen in the singles draw. Alison immediately took control by winning the first four games. This way, she quickly had the first set in the bag. The finishing touch looked great in that set as well: Alison was able to serve out the set with a love game.
Paar tried to hang on in the beginning of the first set but afterwards the difference in class started to show again. Alison managed to break her opponent’s serve two more times and immediately seized on her first opportunity to seize the deal. After 1h9mins Alison booked her place in the next round by beating Paar 6-2 6-3. Ali’s opponent in the quarter-finals is Tereza Mrdeza from Croatia.
Alison is already in the semi-finals in the doubles draw. Alongside Greet Minnen she only had to beat Geuer and Jakupovic. Alison and Greet cruised to victory. Only after five games, the German/Slovenian combination managed to get on the scoreboard. In the second set of set two, Alison and Greet again put some distance between themselves and their opponents. They eventually won 6-1 6-3. If the Belgian girls can also beat Chinese duo Han/Yuan, than they will play the final at Karlsruhe.
