Last week, Alison (WTA-116) started her American hardcourt season at the ITF-tournament of Stocton in the USA ($ 50 000). On Saturday, Ali (WTA D-223) captured the doubles title alongside Kristyna Pliskova (WTA D-204). On Sunday, she played against the Russian Anastasia Pivovarova (WTA-184) in the singles final.
Alison’s start in the final was promising with a 6-3-victory. However, in the second set, the Russian dictated the play, and by taking the second set with 3-6, she leveled the match. During the deciding third set, it was Alison who started to dictate again. After a combat of two hours and two minutes, she could finally cheer: 6-2.
This victory marks the eleventh ITF-title in singles for Alison. These good results permit her to raise up the rankings again and prove that Alison is getting back in shape after her injury. That is good news less then six weeks before the start of the US Open.
