In the singles main draw at Luxembourg, Alison was handed a tough draw with Andrea Petkovic as her first opponent. The little things would be decisive and they were on Petkovic’ side. Fortunately Alison still has another doubles match to look forward to.
Alison lost her second servicegame and was trailing by 4 games to 1. That one break was the difference between both players in the first set. Petkovic didn’t let Alison get back into the set.
In the second set, Alison won more points than her opponent on the first serve. This helped Ali to keep up with Petkovic. Alison had chances in three return games in a row but coudn’t break her opponent’s serve. And the first time Alison had some trouble on her serve in the second set, she immediately conceded the break. Petkovic was just that little bit more efficient, which led Alison to lose the match 3-6 4-6.
Alison is still active in the doubles tournament, alongside Greet Minnen. They are into the quarter-finals. Their next opponents are still unknown.
