Alison also participated in the doubles draw at the Australian Open. She did that alongside Alexea Guarachi from Chile. Together, they caused problems for Sasnovich from Belarus and the American player Townsend, especially in the first set. However Ali and Alexea ended up losing.
Alison and Alexea played doubles together for the first time but had an excellent start. They got the first break and built on that to lead by 4 games to 1. After that, they watched their 4-1-lead turn into a 4-5-deficit. Alison and Alexea did manage to force a tie-break. It was almost unnecessary because they had set point in the twelfth game. They couldn’t convert and Sasnovich and Townsend made the difference in the breaker by winning four straight points.
Even after this it stayed rather close for a while. After the scoreboard showed a score of 2 games all, both Alison and Alexea had to concede their servicegame. After 1 hour 35 minutes they lost 6-7 (3/7) 2-6. For the first time playing together though, they did pretty well.
