Alison loses doubles match despite good first set

Alison had entered the French Open doubles with Mandy Minella. They had to play other opponents than first expected. The girls from Belgium and Luxembourg won the first set but eventually lost the match.

Alison and Mandy were supposed to play Potapova and Yastremaska but they retired from doubles. This meant the Russians Diatchenko and Dzalamidze were the opponents in the first round. The first part of the match went without a hitch: Alison and Mandy led 4-2. As the breaks kept coming, Diatchenko and Dzalamidze made it 5 all. But after that Alison and Mandy were able to make the difference: they won the first set 7-5.

The Russian players raised their level and made it hard for Alison and Mandy to keep resisting. In the third set Ali and her partner won the opening game but watched their opponents take a comfortable lead nevertheless. Alison and Mandy eventually lost 7-5 2-6 2-6. With this doubles loss, the French Open has ended for Alison.
