Alison off to great start at Tashkent

Alison (WTA-61) is playing at Tashkent in Uzbekistan this week. She’s the third seed there and faced qualifying player Liudmila Samsonova (WTA-133) in the first round.

Ali did not lose any time in booking her place in the second round. Right from the get-go, she was in command in her first round match. She didn’t allow her opponent to win a single game in the first set.

In the second set, Samsonova did win a game. But she still could not threaten Alison at all. Ali won easily 6-1 6-0 after 51 minutes of tennis. In the next round, she will play either Romanian player Monica Niculescu (WTA-106) or Nigina Abduraimova (WTA-522), a wild card player from Uzbekistan.

Alison also participates in women’s doubles, alongside Greet Minnen. The two Belgian girls will play Vitalia Diatchenko (RUS) and Sabina Sharipova, who got a wild card for this tournament, in the first round.
