Alison out in singles, through in doubles at Hobart

Alison is playing in Hobart this week for the second tournament of the year. She’s already out in women’s singles after losing a 3-set-match. In women’s doubles, she and Kirsten Flipkens qualified for the quarter-finals.

Alison (WTA-47) played Alizé Cornet (WTA-60) in the first round of women’s singles, the tournament’s winner in 2016. The French player managed to win a close second set but Alison upped her game and allowed Cornet to only win one game in the second set. Unfortunately, the momentum shifted again in the third set. Alison lost 5-7 6-1 2-6.

In women’s doubles, Alison (WTA D-109) is again playing alongside Kirsten Flipkens (WTA D-24). Their first opponents were Kateryna Kozlova (WTA D-437) from Ukraine and Magda Linette (WTA D-411) from Poland. They tried to give the Belgian pair some difficulties but Alison and Flipkens were getting a firm grip on things as the match went on. Alison and Kirsten prevailed and won 7-5 6-3.
