Alison pushes on and reaches fourth round

After the incredible upset against Muguruza, Alison also brought the goods in her third round match. She didn’t give her opponent many opportunities and beat Anett Kontaveit 6-2 6-3. This means Alison will also be present during the second week of The Championships.

Ranked number 27 in the world, Kontaveit was immediately put in her place. Alison was much more dominant on her own serve and this made her win the first four games. The next string of games was won by the server. This ofcourse meant that Alison had the first set in the bag.

The winning percentage of points on first serve did go down a bit. It made Kontaveit hang around in the early stages of the second set. At three all, Alison decided to finish her opponent by winning the next three games. Alison will face Darya Kasatkina in the fourth round. If she wins that match, Alison will equal her best result ever in a Grand Slam.
