Alison reached the third round at Roland Garros in Paris. The Belgian started her second round match badly: after 25 minutes Zarina Diyas (WTA-32) won the first set with 6-0. After a toilet break, Alison got off to a fresh start with new courage and after 28 minutes the Belgian easily won the second set: 6-1.
In the third set both players were playing at the same high level, but Ali showed again her great mental strength and won after an hour and 27 minutes minutes: 6-4.
“I still can’t believe I won”, Alison said after her match. “I’m so happy. My tournament is already a success. From now on, every match is a bonus.”
In the third round, Alison will face the French Kristina Mladenovic (WTA-54). In 2014 Alison won their only previous encounter 6-2 and 7-5 in Wuhan (China) on hardcourt.
