Sadly, Alison did not have much luck in her first match of the new year. She was up 4 games to 3 against Bibiane Schoofs when she had to retire.
To qualify for the second round of the ASB Classic in Auckland was Ali’s first assignment in 2019 and she had a bright start. Alison won four of the first five games. Everything looked to be going according to plan, until Ali made a bad fall and injured her ankle. Especially at the moment of the fall, Ali was in a lot of pain. She tried to continue but had to retire after the next two games, which were won by Schoofs.
Alison will now focus on her recovery and of course hopes to be back on the court as soon as possible.
