Everyone’s waiting with excitement for the start of the Australian Open. Alison did play women’s doubles in Hobart alongside Kirsten Flipkens and reached the semis but they opted not to play that match. Alison can now fully prepare for her first match in Melbourne.
Alison (WTA D-109) and Kirsten (WTA D-24) were facing Cabrera (WTA D-248) and Stosur (WTA D-13) from Australia in the quarter-finals at Hobart. Alison and Kirsten dominated things in the first set. In the second, they had to trail but were able to force a tiebreak in which they could decide the match. Alison and Kirsten won 6-1 en 7-6 (7/2). The semi-final against Chinese players Peng (WTA D-70) and Zhang (WTA D-10) did not occur.
Meanwhile, we know what the main draw looks like in women’s singles at the Australian Open. Alison (WTA-47) is going to play French player Fiona Ferro (WTA-63). Ferro won their first and only meeting last year in Geneva. That match however was played on clay. Alison will now get another chance in this rematch at the Australian Open.
