Alison takes first hurdle at US Open

Alison (WTA-43) has won her first round match at the last grand slam tournament of the year, the US Open (United States).

At Arthur Ashe, Alison immediately competed in a blockbuster against the experienced Venus Williams (WTA-1504). Unimpressed, she quickly won the first set: 6-1.

Set two was more fiercely contested, but after just under 2 hours of play, the player from Grimbergen was again able to take the lead: 7-6 (5).

In the second round French qualifier Clara Burel (WTA-131) awaits.

Alison (WTA D-84) is also active in the doubles tournament in New York. Together with Dutch Rosalie Van Der Hoek (WTA D-132) she will compete against Reese Brantmeier (WTA D-376) and Clervie Ngounoue (WTA D-1091), who received a wildcard from the organization.
