At the WTA tournament in Luxembourg Alison (WTA-79) qualified for the second round after an exciting match against the Swiss Stefanie Voegele (WTA-69). In the first set Alison got some break points at 2-2, but unfortunately she could not convert any of them. At 5-6, the Belgian faced a first break point on her own service. Her volley ended up in the net, and she lost the first set 5-7.
Alison did not let her head down, and grabbed her chance in the first game of the second set, with a return winner she took her 4th breakpoint opportunity. She successfully held serve in order to build a 2-0 lead. With a brilliant lob she broke Voegele’s serve again for a 5-2 lead, and took the set 6-2 afterwards.
In the third set Alison immediately broke in the first game, and ran off to quickly to a 4-2 lead. In the seventh game ‘Ali’ had again some break points, the first one was saved by the net, but thanks to a forehand winner she made it 5-2. With a love game Alison concluded the match. She can now look forward to a duel with Czech Barbora Zahlavova Strycova (WTA 31) in the second round.
