Alison (WTA-67) was not able to reach the third round at the Australian Open (Australia, Grand Slam). She had to surrender in three sets against Yulia Putintseva (WTA-28).
In their previous encounters Alison could not obtain a victory. The Belgian was able to hold until 3-3 in the first set, but then had to give in her service game. The first set went to the Kazakh with 4-6.
Ali did not let herself be discouraged and fought back to a 5-0 lead in the second set, which she won 6-1. In the decisive set, Putintseva forced the first break and did not surrender. The Kazakh won set three with 2-6. The match lasted 1 hour and 55 minutes.
In the doubles, Alison (WTA D-104) and Cornelia Lister (WTA D-78) were defeated in the first round against Elise Mertens (WTA D-6) and Aryna Sabalenka (WTA D-5). They lost 3-6, 7-5 and 6-4.
