Alison will conclude 2018 with two tournament wins. In February, she triumphed in singles at Budapest and this week she and Greet Minnen proved to be the best in doubles at Luxembourg. They beat Lapko and Minella in the final.
Already in the first set Alison and Greet enjoyed the better of play, even though Lapko and Minelli kept them at bay for a while. Alison and Greet forced a first break after six games. Unfortunately there was a rebreak in the next game after a deciding point. Alison and Greet started well in the breaker to take a 4-1-lead. The final score in the tie-break was 7-3.
Both teams stayed on serve in the second set till two games all. Ali and Greet pretty much had enough and finished their opponents in the next few games. Ali and her partner had little trouble to go on a run of four straight games and win the match 7-6 (7/3) 6-2, which meant they also won the tournament. For Alison, it’s her first doubles title in her career. She will now take some well deserved weeks off before preparing the 2019 season.
