On Wednesday Belgium faced Latvia during the first Fed Cup encounter in Budapest. Yanina Wickmayer (WTA-66) was not able to play due to an inflammmation on the shin bone, so Alison (WTA-102) played singles and doubles. Ali had to compete against the 17-year old Darta-Elizabete Emulina in the first match. The Latvian is ranked 17 in the juniors but has no WTA ranking yet. Ali had no problem with her opponent and won easily 6-1 and 6-0.
In the second singles match Kirsten Flipkens (WTA-59) had more difficulties with Ostapenko (WTA-266). She won the match in three sets. In doubles Alison played together with An-Sophie Mestach (WTA-105), they beat Emulina and Ostapenko with 6-0 and 7-5. The Belgian team had an excellent start and defeated Latvia 3-0 and takes on Israel on Thursday.
