Alison (WTA-58) was not able to reach the second round of the WTA-tournament in Melbourne (Australia, WTA 250). She narrowly lost her first match of the new season.
Alison had to face American Amanda Anisimova (WTA-78) in the first round. Ali narrowly lost the tiebreak of the first set 6-7 (5), but took the second set with 6-1. In the third set, Anisimova got the 5-7 advantage. The match lasted almost two hours.
Alison (WTA D-87) will still be in action in the doubles together with Danish Clara Tauson (WTA D-454). They meet second seeds Asia Muhammad (WTA D-44) and Jessica Pegula (WTA D-51) in the first round.
