Alison (WTA-67), who got off to a great start on the English grass, lost in two sets in the quarterfinals of the Viking Open in Nottingham (Great Britain, WTA 250).
As eighth seed, Ali took on top seed Johanna Konta (WTA-20) in the quarterfinals. Konta was soon leading 1-5 against Alison, who then made a comeback by winning the next two games. Unfortunately, she couldn’t keep up the good momentum, Konta took the first set 3-6.
Both players were evenly matched in the second set. The set ultimately had to be decided in the tiebreak, which narrowly went to the British 6-7 (6).
