Doubles final at Diamond Games

Alison (WTA D-1011) and An-Sophie (WTA D-398) reached the doubles semis of the BNP Paribas Fortis Diamond Games thanks to a walkover in the quarterfinal. In the semis they won a thrilling match against the Czech duo Barbora Krejcikova (WTA D-120) and Renata Voracova (WTA D-54).

Ali and Anso started the match well. They broke serve but had to hand in their service game immediately after. At 3-4 Mestach was broken and Krejicikova got the chance to serve out the set. A double fault of the Czech made the lead undone. The Belgian duo came back to 5-5, broke again and served out the first set: 7-5.

There were no breaks in the second set, so a tiebreak had to decide who would win the set. Also here there was no gap between both teams. At 5-5 the Czech team took an opportunity, and won the tiebreak 6-7(5).

A match tiebreak had to decide who would go to the finale. The Czech duo built up a 5-2, but Ali and Anso did not surrender and leveled the score again. Tension rose and at 9-8 the Belgian team got a first match point but could not finish the job. The fourth match point at 12-11 was decisive, and Ali and Anso reached the final.

In the battle for the title they play first seeds Anabel Medina Garrigues (WTAD-27) and Arantxa Parra Santonja (WTAD-36) today.
