Normally Alison (WTA-132) had to play her first round match against Madison Brengle (WTA-62) already yesterday. The rain, however, caused the match to be moved to today. Ali started the encounter well and immediately built a lead. She however failed to hold serve and a tiebreak had to decide who would win the set. The Belgian won the tiebreak 7-6(4).
Ali was also leading 3-0 early in the second set, but the American came back. At 5-5 Alison broke her opponent’s serve for the third time, but Brengle did not surrender and managed to get to a tiebreak. The American won the second set 6-7(4).
In the deciding set Alison immediately had to hand in her own service game. She failed to get back into the set and lost it 2-6 after nearly 2,5 hours of play.
