After her quarterfinal at Roland Garros last week, Alison (WTA-46) already played on grass at the WTA-tournament in Rosmalen today. For the first time in her career she was standing on the court as a top-50 player, and in the first round she faced Evgeniya Rodina (WTA-99).
In the first set both players were broken twice. However, it was Ali who broke the service of her opponent for the third time at the end of the first set: 7-5. In the second set, Alison fought hard to get up to a 5-3 lead. The Belgian served for the match and was able to win the match after 1,5 hours of play with 6-3 in the second set.
In the second round Ali will face fourth seed Belinca Bencic (WTA-33) or qualifier Jessica Pegula (WTA-321).
