After her first round singles match at Tashkent in Uzbekistan, Alison has also played her first match in women’s doubles. She played alongside Greet Minnen and together they faced Vitalia Diatchenko and Sabina Sharipova, who got a wild card for this tournament. It wasn’t so easy to beat them.
In the first set, Diatchenko and Sharipova already showed they meant business. There was very little between both doubles teams. Alison and Greet lost the tie-break 5-7. Despite a break at 2-1, the Belgian girls had to allow their opponents to come back in the second set. Again a tie-break had to be played. This time, Ali and Greet won by 7 points to 2. After a match tie-break and nearly 2 hours of tennis, Alison and Greet won 6-7 (5/7) 7-6 (7/2) [10-8].
In the quarter-finals, they will play a duo that exists of Slovenian player Dalila Jakupovic and American player Sabrina Santamaria. They are the 3rd seed in women’s doubles.
