Flipkens too strong for Alison

At the WTA-tournament in Monterrey Alison (WTA-47), seeded sixth, faced compatriot Kirsten Flipkens (WTA-73) in the second round. Last year both players faced each other in Katowice, where Ali won in straight sets.

In Mexico Flipkens served very well at the beginning of the match. Ali did not create any break opportunity but faced eight breakpoints in the first set. She was broken twice and lost the set 2-6. In the second set Ali won all her service games and broke her opponent’s serve once: 6-4. In the deciding set Ali twisted her foot at 2-2. She was broken at 3-5 and Flipkens claimed the victory after more than two hours. Ali is concerned about her foot and will see a doctor shortly.
