Alison Van Uytvanck (WTA-103), seeded second at the ITF-tournament in Albuquerque ($ 75 000), had to face third seed Veronica Cepede Royg (WTA-127) in the semifinal.
Alison won their two previous encounters but Cepede Royg forced the first break of the match. Ali broke back and managed to get to a tiebreak, which she won 7-6(3). In the second set Cepede Royg took the lead, she broke Ali’s serve twice and won the set 1-6.
The Belgian got an break in the third set, but Cepede Royg broke Ali’s serve twice and also won the third set 4-6. Next week Alison will play in Las Vegas.
