At s’ Hertogenbosch, Alison (WTA-57) was able to take the upper hand against Yafan Wang (WTA-58). Ali tried to repeat that at Mallorca but this time the Chinese player took the win. Alison lost 6-7 (3/7) 3-6 in the round of sixteen.
A higher percentage first serves wasn’t enough to give Alison the win. Even though it could have turned out very differently in the first set. At 5-4, Ali had set point on Wang’s service. But her opponent stood firm and was able to score more points in the tie-break.
Because she also lost the first two games of the second set, Alison had her back against the wall. But she did well to strike back and tied the set at 2, only to see her opponent take a lead again after that. Wang’s winning serve ended the match on the second match point. Alison will now continue her preparation for Wimbledon.
