Alison will play Petra Martic (WTA-81) from Croatia in the first round of the women’s singles at the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the year. If Alison wins, she will face a top-40 player in the next round.
By taking on Martic, Alison will be playing against someone who’s only three spots behind her on the WTA ranking. It will be the first meeting between both players. Martic played only two matches so far in 2018, both at Auckland. If Alison gets past Martic, she will face Irina Begu (WTA-40) or Ekaterina Makarova (WTA-33) in the second round. Makarova is the 31st seed at Melbourne. We will keep you posted about the order of play.
