Stunning comeback, five match points saved and into the final!

For the second straight year, Alison has reached the final in Budapest. The semi-final against Alexandrova was a thriller. Alison looked to be on her way to a loss before she came back all the way and saved five match points.

The Russian player went hard from the get-go and immediately led by 2 games to 0. That break remained on the scoreboard for a while. At 3-5, she was able to get another one. Which decided the first set.

At 3-6 0-2, a place in the finale looked far away for Alison. But she then showed her amazing fighting spirit. She immediately tied the set at 2 and made her opponent feel she was still in the match. Alison was able to strike again in the always important seventh game. Alson stayed in control for the remainder of the set.

The start of set three was exactly the same as in the two previous sets. Alison was quickly trailing but already proved she could make up for a deficit and did it again. Alexandrova made another push and extended her lead to 2-5 and still Alison wasn’t ready to give up. In this set’s exciting tenth game, she saved already three match points, to get it tied at 5 later on. A tie-break had to decide and Alison trailed 4-6 in the breaker, which meant she had to save another two match points. She stunningly managed to do this also and then was able to convert her second match point: 3-6 6-4 7-6 (9/7).
