Alison can look back at a successful tournament at Rabat, achieving three good victories in singles and one in doubles. She got the best result in the singles tournament. Alison bowed out in the semis.
On her way to the semi-finals, Alison was able to beat her compatriot Ysaline Bonaventure. Bonaventure did erase an early break and managed to strike at the end of the first set. From this point on, Alison played the best tennis and executed her plan to perfection. She didn’t give her opponent any chance anymore and won the match 5-7 6-1 6-2.
Alison then faced Maria Sakkari in the semis. Alison started very well and immediately led by 2 games to 0. A bit later, the score went from 3-1 to 3-3. On Ali’s serve, Sakkari managed to win the first set. The Greek player again broke Ali’s serve in the sixth game of the second set. Alison came back from 2-5 down to 4-5 but that was about it. In a close two-set match, Alison lost 4-6 4-6.
In doubles, Alison reached the quarter-finals alongside Greet Minnen. Then they had to play Martinez Sanchez and Sorribes Tormo, two Spanish girls who play on their natural habitat on clay. It showed, although Ali and Greet gave them a run for their money in the second set. In that set, they erased a 1-4-deficit. Winning the tie-break could have turned this match around completely but that was not in the cards. Ali and Greet lost 1-6 6-7 (2/7).
