Alison traveled from Rabat to Madrid to start her next tournament. The draw wasn’t kind to her because she immediately faced Belinda Bencic. Alison gave her all but lost to the Swiss player 4-6 3-6.
Playing Bencic was certainly no easy task. Bencic is the current number 18 in the world and a former number 7. Especially at the early stages of the match, Alison did well to make things difficult for her opponent. At 3-3 however, Alison lost her servicegame to love. Ali did manage do get a hold in the next servicegame, despite facing set point. Bencic pounded on the next set point in the next game.
At 2-2 in the second set, Bencic seized definite control over the match by winning the next three games. Alison won one more game from that point on but couldn’t avoid the defeat. Alison will work towards the next tournament as she is not playing doubles in Madrid.
