Alison (WTA-104) had to compete against Anastasia Rodionova (WTA-185) in the first qualifying round. Last year she beat her opponent in three sets, and in Monterrey she repeated her win. However Ali did not start her match very well. In the first set she had troubles with her serve, and could not win any of her service games. She broke the Australian once, and lost the first set 1-6.
In the second set Alison started to serve better. She converted two breakpoints, and won the second set 6-2. In the third set Alison kept the momentum and sailed to a 6-0 victory.
In the second qualifying round of the WTA-tournament in Monterrey Alison will face Kateryna Bondarenko (WTA-177) for the first time in her career. The Ukrainian was in the top 30 in 2009, and is making a comeback after the birth of her daughter.
